Charlie’s and Emma’s bedroom’s are probably the only 2 rooms in this entire house that makes me “house proud”. Let me begin by saying, our landlords have terrible taste! We’re currently renting, and we were told when we moved in that we can’t paint. They had just put a fresh coat of paint in almost every room, so they didn’t want that going to waste. Uuumm, okay. I guess I get that. But they’re most likely going to put another fresh coat of paint in every room after we move out anyway, because there’s TONS of marks on the walls. See, when they painted, they used one coat of paint. ONE. Which means every time you touch anything to the wall, it literally rubs off, to show the tacky color that was underneath. They also used flat paint instead of glossy, which for some reason rubs off really easily.
Each room is atrocious in its own respect. Some rooms have outdated wall paper. Other rooms just have mismatched color schemes. Not all the carpet is bad. Charlie’s room has soft brown carpet with matching brown walls. Sadly, this is the best color scheme in the house! Emma’s room has olive green carpet, with muted teal walls. I have no idea who told them this was a good color combination, but WOW. The living room isn’t terrible. It’s tan, with a neutral carpet. The yellow paint underneath is showing through in a lot of places though. And then there’s our bedroom… Carpet: gray. Walls: 2 are forest green, 2 are cream. I haven’t done any decorating in that room. How on earth do you decorate something that’s already pretty ugly? I mean really?
So anyway, on to Charlie’s bedroom. I had a pretty good color scheme to work with in there. The colors I chose for his nursery are green, blue, brown, and orange. I love the way the colors go together. I had originally planned to do a monkey theme, but ended up liking owls a lot more! They’re just so darn cute.
I made this owl mobile a few months back. I found some paint samples in the store to work with. You can read more about that here.
The owl garland I’m really proud of! I remember coming across something similar a while back, but never saved it! So it wasn’t an original idea, but I also didn’t have a lot of material to work with, so a lot of it was my creative flare.
I made this by Mod Podging some fabric onto a wooden letter from Hobby Lobby. I added a pop of color by painting the edges teal. At one point Charlie had a matching diaper cover made from the same fabric.
This is Osker. Charlie received Osker for Christmas this year, compliments of mama. Emma has a matching owl, which you’ll see later. If anyone’s interested, I plan to post a PDF pattern for both the owl stuffy and the owl garland.
We cloth diaper in our family, both to save money, and for the cuteness factor. This owl diaper is my favorite! My sister got it for Charlie for Christmas. It’s a Mo Dia diaper. I definitely didn’t plan it this way, but the diapers actually match his color scheme.
This is a gorgeous quilt that my sister-in-law made for Charlie. I actually based some of the color scheme on the colors in this quilt, because I love them so much!
I’m hoping that once we get our own house, I can make his room look a little nicer. I was thinking a light neutral carpet with a pale lime green wall. I think it would look great with the décor I have going already!

Love the banner, it is so cute! What a sweet nursery. God job!
That is too adorable…and so is he! My son loves owls and we always have trouble finding them in boy colors. I love what you did with the room. Would you consider sharing here?

Your owls are so incredibly adorable! I especially love the mobile… but the softie is a very close second!
